A firefighter accused in a March 6 crash that killed a Mississauga woman will fight the charges against him in court, his lawyer said today.
u2 ?$ r. F) O* H# AJarrett Johns, 35, of Toronto, accused of running a red light while driving the Mississauga fire truck that struck Kimberley Schulz's car, returns to Brampton court next Thursday to set a trial date, said his lawyer, Brian Starkman.1 _# o" F1 A9 U n
"(A trial) is what it's looking like at this stage," he said. "We're attempting to obtain full disclosure that's relevant to the case and that can be a lengthy process."

Starkman hasn't minced words when asked about Johns' views on the charge." v# A; R4 v' u4 K8 }$ H4 p
"He is definitely maintaining his innocence in this matter," Starkman said.
9 m9 ~# ]* a1 P5 k7 p2 U$ L/ hSchulz, 42, who hailed from a family of firefighters, was returning home after playing hockey at York University when she was killed in the Britannia Rd. W./Rodeo Dr. crash, which occurred a few minutes before noon on a Sunday.

Johns hasn't been suspended.- P% C% c& \3 u& g! `
In an interview last month, Mississauga Fire Chief John McDougall didn't rule out changes to policy or driver training procedures in the wake of the fatal crash.- s5 S. H4 y5 L h
Schulz, known to her husband and friends as "Blondie," was only steps away from fashion retailer Nygard, where she had worked part-time as a sales associate for about a year, when the crash occurred. She worked full-time for a Vaughan filtration company.
